In just 10 minutes you can have a safe and beautiful tan, achieving the same results as 10 days in the sun, without the ageing effects.
The Tan Spray tanning products contain various ingredients. They contain a guide colour to help the Technician apply the tan evenly; this is only an indication of how the tan will look, as the tan is developing underneath. The guide colour will be washed off after a minimum of 8 hours when the tan is fully developed, and when you are able to shower or bathe.
What's in it? The ingredients include plant extracts, alcohol, moisturising agents and preservatives. The important one is DHA, or Dihydroxyacetone, the colourless sugar in the tanning solution.
How does it work? DHA reacts with skin proteins, including amino acids, in the outermost layer of the skin. The reaction develops brown skin colouring. The higher the DHA, the higher the tan. The spray tan works with your natural pigments; therefore you will no longer be subjected to the 'Tango' effect!
How long will it last? The tan can last between 5-7 days, depending on how well you prepare for the tan and how well you moisturise afterwards. However, this can be extended by using a tan extender as it contains 3% DHA, which will prolong the tan. The face and hands will be the first to fade, as you will wash these more often. A facial mist spray will top up the face, and can also be used on hands
Preparation
Exfoliate your skin the night before your spray tan application for smooth skin and even tanning results. Spend a little extra time on knees, elbows, feet and hands. Exfoliate at least once a week to maintain, smooth healthy-looking skin.
Shave at least 8 hours before your spray tan session. It is best to wait 24 hours after waxing prior to sunless tanning.
Do NOT moisturise skin within 4 hours prior to your spray tan application, as lotions can create a barrier, preventing the absorption of tanning solution or lotions. Remove makeup prior to spray tan for best results.
Wear dark loose fitting clothes. Spray tan solution washes out of most clothing, but the cosmetic bronzer could wipe off on lighter coloured clothes, giving temporary discolouration.
Do NOT wear wool, nylon or silk during or after your spray tan application for at least 8 hours as the sunless ingredients could cause those materials to stain.
Aftercare - Do's and Don'ts
Do NOT moisturise until after your first shower. This could affect the immediate reaction of the sunless solution on the skin and cause streaking.
Do NOT swim after your sunless tanning session. Immediate contact with water, chlorine and salt water could affect the immediate reaction of the sunless solution. Also, keep in mind that chlorine and salt water may dry your skin and cause your sunless tan to fade faster.
Wait at least 6 hours before you exercise. Excessive perspiration could effect the immediate reaction of the sunless solution on the skin.
Do NOT exfoliate for at least 48 hours after your sunless tanning application. When you do exfoliate, remember to do so gently and evenly to preserve an even, sunless tan. Avoid long hot baths and showers as these speeds up exfoliation.
Do Wait at least 8 hours before you shower after your sunless tanning application. This will allow time for the self-tanning reaction to occur in the skin. For best results, leave overnight. Don't worry if you see colour washing off from your first shower – this is normal. What you see washing off is the cosmetic bronzer. What is left is a beautiful, sunless tan.
Have cool, lukewarm baths and showers as this will prolong your tan. Moisturise your skin every time you bathe to maintain colour. Apply to the face and body using circular motions. Pat your skin dry after a bath or shower. Rubbing your skin may rub off your tan.
Remember to wear extra protection in the sun. The Self Tan Lotion or Spray does not provide any sunscreen. Although you look like you have a tan, remember to apply an SPF sunscreen when outdoors to keep your skin from burning.
And finally you look great so... Show off your tan.... And tell people about us!
